Establishing a women’s ministry helps to meet some of the social and spiritual needs of ladies within the church community. Organized activities that provide enjoyment, connection, and spiritual edification help to strengthen not just relationships with one another, but with the Lord. Women are generally considered more social than men and usually desire spending time with one another to talk about women’s issues and gain spiritual encouragement within a sisterhood.

As we work towards relaunching this ministry at Transformation Life Church (TLC), it is my hope that it will equip and empower all women to then carry out their own ministry of service to the body of believers and beyond. The spiritual and practical benefits of women’s ministry are immeasurable. As women grow toward the “fullness of the measure of Christ” (Ephesians 4:13), we love and serve the body of Christ with more energy and enthusiasm than ever before. We reach out to our families and to the world with open arms. Isaiah 41:31 says, “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”

Women’s ministry arises out of Scripture. Paul encouraged women to teach, nurture, and help each other become mature Christians (Titus 2:3-5). Women’s ministry provides an opportunity to get together as sisters in the Lord, where being a Christian is the common ground, with the goals of strengthening relationships with Jesus and with each other, as well as connecting and guiding others to Jesus and His saving power. Here are a few more key benefits as to why a women’s ministry group is so important:

  • The Women’s Ministry will allow women to focus on Bible studies, support groups, retreats, activities, and community outreach.
  • It will allow women to talk and pray with other women. Together they can share a “big picture” vision for the women within the church community and beyond the doors of the church.
  • It will allow women to support one another through emotional healing, bonding, deeper friendships, and closer fellowship with the Lord, through small groups.
  • It can challenge women to create and develop leadership responsibilities and one-on-one teaching. Any time women are growing and maturing in their faith, it is a great thing!
  • It will encourage women to discover their spiritual gifts, and through prayer, learn where their passion to serve lies.
  • Finally…women need women! Sometimes just a hug, smile, or a cry on a shoulder is what a woman needs; someone who understands the nuances of being a woman in every aspect.

I am very excited to begin this new chapter in my life by volunteering to lead TLC’s Women’s Ministry. I look back to 2016 when I joined a Bible study at the church I was attending and learned how to feel confident in the Lord when faced with difficult situations in my life. Now, I will be serving God by providing that opportunity for someone else. Our God has won the victory! God’s timing is perfect. He is faithful all the time! His promises are true and full of life. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Do not lean on your own understanding.”

Soon we will begin a Bible study called “The Armor of God,” where we will learn how God has blessed us with His power and guides us on how to fight the battles we face every day. This is why 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.”

We pray that our women’s ministry Bible studies and events will be tools used by God to change your life, which will inevitably affect those around you, changing lives…one woman at a time. This is the time to teach and disciple women, to nurture, and evangelize!

If you would like to volunteer with me in serving the Lord in women’s ministry, I can be reached at terezataylor@comcast.net. I look forward to building a strong sisterhood with you that glorifies the Lord! God bless you all!
